A rainy day at East Yancey turned sunny for the Cougars. Down to 12 players due to suspensions, the Cougars played with one substitution.
The Cougars controlled the tempo and had several shots clang off the woodwork. Off a scrum after a Cougar corner, the ball popped out to Bradley at the top of the box who shot and scored! Well, actually, according to the ref, he didn't. The ball squirted under the side netting and ended up outside of the goal. The ref said he was blocked on the play and since the ball ended up outside the goal, the ref awarded a goal kick.
This lit the Cougars fire and a minute later, the Cougars opened the scoring with emphasis with Martin hammering home with 2:30 left in the first. Ninety seconds later Eduardo pounded a shot to make the score 2-0 at the half.
The second half belonged to the Cougars and one Cougar in particular as Gerardo logged a hat trick, connecting on goals at the 20:00, 13:30, and 9:30.
The Cougars midfield and defensive line played hard. Tim carried the ball forward twice and took hard shots.
Luke harassed the Harris defensive third all game long. He had several shots, made numerous good passes, and beat his marker several times.
8th Graders Luke, Jacob, and Tim
